First thought AHH I am about to start the making process of my wooden model! Very nerveracking but exciting all the same! After thinking about the concept of building the new structure inside the drawers I have realised this will not work as well as I thought it would. By building it in the drawers this would build very well although the wooden structure would then not come out of the drawers very easily to express its own form. I have decided I will have to build it outside of the drawers without a template to work from, this will be challenging but im sure it is capable of being done and done well!
What an interesting form this makes! It could be an architectural piece on its own!
I have taken the pieces of wood out the drawers and have began to use wood glue to glue on these pieces ready to be glued together (eek!) I will leave these overnight to make sure they are fully stuck to that when I come to glue these together it will not all go disastrously wrong! I will carry on doing this now to the rest of the pieces.

Life Drawing, week 1, 2 and 3
Enjoyed these past three weeks of life drawing! From working with a range of materials including coloured pencil, charcoal, graphite, linseed oil, pencil and pastels to drawing a model in a bag! It has been interesting!
New exciting idea!
My new idea is to use the pieces of wood which I have previously made inside the drawers and bring this idea to a seperate structure to form the structure of the drawers but without the drawers holding it up! I am very excited about this idea although there will be many complications along the way I am sure!
I am thinking about how each piece of wood can attach and I have come up with an idea of small pieces of wood joining each layer up, I am going to try out using just one piece of wood and seeing how this works. I will use the drawers as a template to build my design up.
As you can see I have cut some pieces of wood out and arranged them, these have not been glued on just yet! I think this idea would work very well in ensuring the design can stand up on its own! I had to cut each piece of wood out the same size to ensure this works, precise measurments are the key to my design! Each piece has also been cut at an 79 degree angle which replicates the 11 degree angles which keep appearing in this model!
A few closer views into the workings of my model!

making of model
I am now working on producing sets of stairs to link each level in my design, I will make these out of foam board. I measured a set of full scale stairs in the college this gave me an average length, width and depth to each stair which I can now convert into a smaller scale. I have worked out my scale is 1:80 which I will have to work with whilst making different objects in my final major project.
I found using foam board was very challenging, one problem was ensuring the stairs were the correct size on each stair, I decided to use double sided sticky tape although once I had fitted two rows of stairs together the structure began to give way! I put together one spiral staircase and added it to my structure to see how it would fit,
This looks impressive on although the stairs were just not strong enough to stay upright and kept breaking and falling off! After trying different methods of adhesives I decided foam board was not the best option!

Working out dimensions I have to work with
I have decided to measure the dimensions of inside the drawers to determine what size of space I will have to work with, I have found the length is 23.3cm and the width of the space I have to work with is 11.7cm. By having these dimensions this will help me to expand my ideas on how I will incorporate an interior into my structure! I have made a block of wood in these dimensions to see the space more clearly which I have to expand on.
By making this block of wood this has helped me to think of new ideas on how I can expand on the structure and how I can incorporate interior design and architecture in my project!
I have decided to make the wood longer as it will then stick out of the structure and make way for some stairs to be added to fit together at the front of the building
By messing around with different concepts of how wood can be fitted in I have finally found a concept which could work!

google sketch up workings out
I enjoyed working on google sketch up, I thought about how a google office would look, i thought about how i could make it look quirky and i thought about how an office could look more inspirational than dull, the more fun the office is the more the ideas flow i think! I shall carry out designing different rooms and see what outcomes I get.
Ways to extend the building and create an interior.
By looking at the stacked drawers I have to imagine different ways an interior could fit in with this shape. My first idea is to extend each space inbetween each drawer which would create an interior coming out of the drawers instead of just inside them.
I have measured inbetween each drawer to determine what the angle is that I would have to work with, that angle is 11 degrees. Using cardboard and a protractor to measure I have cut out these angles which I can work with on my piece, having these angles will help me to think about how the rooms could expand and what scale the piece will be.
Using paper, I have detemined where the edges of the drawers are, doing this will help me get a sense of the space I have to work with, and this template can easily be taken off and put back on.
I have just added more paper to ensure the template is secure and can be used efficiently!
By looking at the angles this has helped me to understand how my interior could extend out of the drawers although I am still looking at different concepts!

Finding a new way to stack drawers!
I am playing around with the drawers and trying to figure out different ways the drawers could be stacked to create a building like model. I find by slotting the drawers inside each other this creates a very interesting concept!
The way the drawers slotted into place is very interesting! I wanted to cretae something unique which i could work with in the interior design route. I now have to think about how I can create an interior either inside the object or coming out of the object. I found this defies gravity in a strange way, as if I tilt the plinth it is on more drawers can be stacked and seem to almost turn upside down!
I feel this can be classed as performance art, as these drawers were building up people would walk past and comment, this gave me peoples opinions about my work and it was interesting to hear what people thought!

Beggining of brief
We had a class discussion today about which idea would work better, my two ideas were recieved very well, although they much prefered the office space idea, they gave me helpful suggestions about using diffrenet objects to form a base for an interior rather than thinking and making a structure of my own! I feel I benefited from this discussion as it helped me move my ideas forward as I was beggining to question my ideas and whether they would work or if the timescale I had would be enough!
By looking in the college skip I found some old drawers which would be perfect for me to use!I struggled carrying it back to the room though! I am currently thinking about how these drawers could be used to create an interesting base for me to work with for designing the interior.
I stacked them on top of each other which looks interesting and I can imagine an interior inside the drawers or even coming out of the drawers.
By moving the drawers around I thought about how this would appear more interesting,
I think this looks a more interesting concept of using drawers to cretae office space, and the ironic point is I am designing an office space and I am using office drawers to create the building!
